Turbo Memory Upgrade

#1 Post by stuka » Sun Nov 30, 2008 8:28 pm

Can the Turbo Memory be upgraded? On Crucial they only show the regular RAM.

My T61p has 1G of Turbo memory, and the motherboard has 4G.

I was thinking of adding more Turbo Memory as a stop gap until the SSD gets cheaper.

I don´t know if Turbo Memory is upgradeable on your machine, but if I was you, I wouldn´t bother with it. With your amount of system memory I don´t believe you´ll ever need Turbo Memory including the one already installed in your ThinkPad for the simple reason that at this moment Intel Turbo Memory doen´t really seem to provide the results and performance it was promised to (at least in the case of nice amount of RAM) and even if it becomes more effective in the future, that would be then at time when SSDs will be already affordable ;)

Just my 2 cents

Interesting. I did notice a slight performance increase when switched from XP to Vista, but that could just be the X64 performance difference over the X86 XP.

On a fast machine Vista tends to make the impression of being a blazing fast OS even though it is not (in raw performance probably the same as XP regarding the x86 arch) :D Actually, it would be interesting to benchmark your machine with and without Intel Turbo Memory installed ;)
