T60 audio - setting for 2.1 channel audio?

My T60 is directly connected to a 2.1 channel speaker system. On some movies, I notice that the dialogue seems slightly muted (meaning it's audible, but you have to listen carefully for it) relative to the non-dialogue audio of the movie. Could it be that I need to specify somewhere in the T60's audio settings that I am connected to a 2.1 speaker system as opposed to a 5.1 system (I'm guessing most movies are recorded in 5.1)?

Right now I'm playing with the graphic equalizer settings in WMP11 to make the dialogue more audible, but wondering if there's a better solution.

I have seen this too. For me it was caused by the codec. I'm using ffdshow where I could double-click the "FFa" icon that appears in the system tray during playback to open the codec audio settings. I'm not sure what exactly had to be changed but probably something in either the Mixer or the Volume tab.

Is the audio AC3? If so, it's the awful AC3 codec. There is an AC3 codec tweaker that you can download separately or as part of some codec packs (like K-Lite). FFDShow can also help.

Dunno how I would check for that, but that's definitely a possibility.

FFDShow was set to 2:0:0, so I set it to 2:0:1. Not sure that made any noticeable difference.
