Problems - can't delete R&R file

My Profile - T60 with a 320GB harddrive...my harddrive is almost full with just 15GB left. Will thinking about what to delete, it hit me - my files, while extensive, are only 110GB...and the misc, Windows, Programs and other stuff is another 20GB...leaving ~130GB unaccounted for. I did the sleuthing and have traced my issue to badly configured R&R setup driven by ThinkVantage's Rescue and Recovery utility (ver 4.21).

Indeed, the untility allows me to see that I have 5 recovery files - of sizes 2.8GB, 0.6GB, 1GB, 5.6GB and 138GB. Yes - 138GB...I did not forget a decimal.

Upon trying to use the R&R to delete any of these files, the utility simply becomes 'non-responsive'. A window pops up saying it is deleting the file, but does not proceed. I have turned of the Recylce Bin function (ie deleted files are to be delete straight without being moved there), but no success. As well with Windows Explorer, I cant even find these files, even though I have chanegd the setting to see hidden files.

Any help is very much appreciated!!!!

thnaks for the reply - found some things of relevance here...but not quite there yet. My questions include (answers to any of which could help me resolve my problem):

1. I cant locate the folder where the backups are stored...how can i do this? What is the x: drive? How do I view it, if at all?

2. The R&R utility freezes when i try to use the delete function? How can this be remedieid?

3. The utulity is a new version (4.21) i installed just a few weeks ago, yet the files are liekly from an old version (likely 3.x). Does this matter? Shoudl i unstill the utility and try reinstallation of the older version if i can find it?

thanks as always

All of the questions were answered in the linked thread, but it assumes that you have some basic windows knowledge. In the examples, 'X" refers to your main boot drive/partition, which would be 'C" in most cases. You have to unhide hidden system files and then boot into safe mode as administrator to see the (hidden)backup folder C:\rrbackups , then delete the recovery backup files. Do you need a step by step to do this?

I guess I do...dont get me wrong I am not being lazy here (I am searching and reading right now to accomplish all of these tasks)... but if it takes you only a few mintues for you to give me a condensed instruction set then i would be greatly appreciative

No need to post further...I have found out why my system wasnt allowing me to see the hidden folders, and hence was able to access and delete the backup files

Regarding the difficulty experienced in deleting backup files under Thinkpad R&R.
Try deleting most recent backups first.
