Latest System Update won't run on T60P - Vista 64

The latest Lenovo System Update won't run on my T60P with Vista Ultimate 64. I installed it twice and always the same situation:
I use UAC. On starting it asks for Admin signon. But it opens a window with both the user and admin user names. At the top it says that it is opening the registry editor!!!
No matter which user or PW I use, it just returns the same window.
Anyone have any ideas about this?

I was going to direct you to the sticky postyunder Vista, which I put in a few months ago, but I see you saw it and posted a reply. I had so many things that didn't work on my T61p, that I gave up and went back to 32-bit.

I have used 64 for about 18 month on this T60P (I put a Core 2 Duo process in it). Now, things seem to work ok for the most part. This problem with the Lenovo updater is new.

I'm sorry there appears to be an issue with your T60p I also have a T60p and the latest Lenovo system update 3.14 should install on a T60p. I have run systemupdate314-2008-10-20.exe a number of times and it completes. Now if you have installed Service Pack 2 the installed System Update will fail when it reads the Vista OS as Build 6002... when it attempts to check for updates.
To me it's not clear just where your failure is occourring at.

I have System Update 3.14.0017 (Filename 3.14-2008-10-20) running on my T61p Vista Business 64 machine and it seems to work without issue. I do run as Administrator, and I did (instantly and immediately) disable UAC. ... JDH
