Well it could be done, you have beta drivers available on nvidia website... A week ago nvidia announced that CUDA drivers for notebooks are now available for series 8 & 9 (and 140M is 8-based).

FAIL :(

when i try to install (180.60_CUDA_XP_beta)

i receive a message "The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit."

I haven't tried it yet, but thinkwiki says it's possible (not sure for XP):

http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/NVidia_Quadro_NVS_140m

Also, maybe you should try with these drivers:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/quadro_nvs ... _beta.html

NOTE: You should be very careful with installation of these drivers, I think you should wait few weeks for better support, and Lenovo's certified version (i guess that depends if you're in a hurry). On the second provided link there is note that these drivers are not yet supported on Thinkpads. Be sure to back up your unit if you're really going to try it...

You can absolutely enable CUDA on T61.

Try the notebook developer driver here. It worked for me.

I tried the latest and according to my software package CUDA was being used. After a few weeks I lost color. My screen went black and white. Reverting to Lenovo drivers fixed things.

Here's the weird part. I am a photographer with Canon 5D2 and bought a software package to help me play h.264 files smoothly. Well, using CUDA it plays ok with a few hickups here and there. With the Lenovo drivers that don't enable CUDA I think I get better playback. Strange. Anyways, I have a support call into Nvidia and will see if I can get the software to work properly.
