Hi,
I have a couple of questions, I now that exist t61 laptops with T9500 processor, my current laptop is equipped with a t7700 CPU and I'd like to upgrade it, I'm thinking on buying a t9300 or t9500, do you think that I could have problem of upgrading?
Other topic, also I'm thinking on change the default 4965 card with the new 5300 series, either 5300 or 5350. I know that 5300 is totally compatible with my chipset (965) but I have doubts about the compatibility of it with WiMax adapter.
Is there any problem to combine 965 chipset with intel 5350? (I know that is also necessary to modify the bios).
Thanks
Regards

Hi,
I know that is necessary to patch the bios, but my question was whether the WiMax card is compatible with the chipset 965.
Thanks

Before you take the plunge on the CPU upgrade, read this thread.

That is probably the least of the issues. The 5350 will only operate with WiMax on particuar frequencies, which to date have only be implemented in a relatively small number of locations.
You'd need to make sure that you have WiMax services operating (or likely to become operating in a reasonable timeframe) on the same frequencies in the areas that you frequent to make the 5350 worthwhile.
WiMax is similar to 3G, in that it is a technology that can be deployed on a number of different RF bands.
For instance 3G services globally are typically operated on one, or more, of four RF bands, 850Mhz, 900Mhz, 1900Mhz and 2100 Mhz, but there are very few 3G devices which support operation on all four bands.
Cheers,
Bill B.

I have a T61, and I live in Baltimore where there is WiMAX service through Xohm. I've received the error 1802 as you described would happen.
There was talk of being able to flash the BIOS to circumvent this. Can anyone give me more information on what's involved in that, and how to do it?

I have a T61p with T7700 and 4965AGN.
Upgrade myself to T7800 (it is definitely hotter and T61p handles the heat very well).
With the help of Zander's patched BIOS, the Intel 5300 wireless card also works great.
All hotkey and hardware switch work like they suppose to.
