Dead Keyboard?

Quite a few keys on my keyboard no longer work after an attempt to replace my laptop fan/heatsink.

The only thing I did that might have destroyed the keyboard would be to twist the keyboard ribbon, since I couldn't figure out how to detach the keyboard ribbon. But there's no apparent breaks on the keyboard ribbon.

This is a fairly big issue because among the dead keys are those I need to input my log-in password. So I can no longer boot up the computer. If there's no way to repair the keyboard, I'll have to FRU a new one.

this is a silly suggestion (because i'm sure you already did it), but double check that the keyboard connector is firmly and correctly attached to the motherboard
