Dual external screen - Essential Port Replicator

Hi,

I'm sorry if this has been answered before on this forum, but I couldn't find a simular question through search.

I have a T60 with one VGA port on the left side. I have connected it to a Essential Port Replicator docking station (I think that's what it's called. The docking station has one VGA port (no DVI).

I've been trying to get dual extrenal screen to work. Connected one screen at the side of the computer, and one in the back of the docking station. But only the one in the back of the docking station works while the computer is docked. If I undock the computer the one on the side of the computer works (doh! :)). Not both of the together though.

Is it possible to get them both to work at the same time?

The answer is no, the dock is basically disabling the laptop vga port and passing it thru to it's connector.

There are 2 solutions:
Get a dock which has both dvi and vga, then you can drive a monitor off each connector independently.

Or get a usb to video adapter such as EVGA 100-U2-UV16-A1 UV Plus USB. There are 4 models, depending on vga/dvi and 2 max resolutions. I got mine with a rebate. Other companies make them as well, but i went with evga since their main business is graphics cards and they seem more widely distributed, so easier to buy.
