T60 Internal Mic Failed?

Hi guys came to use my mic and it wasn't working. Checked all the properies in control panel, and it is turned up and unmuted.

When I turn my speakers volume up, I can hear feedback, just like as if the mic was working, however when you rub your hand across the hole on the palmrest, nothing is picked up.

When you try recording sound in sound recorder, nothing is recorded, apart from sounds the computer makes (i.e windows sounds etc that are made at the time of recording).

If i plug in an external mic, that works fine.

Any ideas?
