T60 Fingerprint security when logging in

#1 Post by cl0ne » Sun Jan 11, 2009 6:44 pm

When the login screen pops up from shutdown, standby, etc it displays the fingerprint security that tells me to type in the password or wait for it to load. I can do a ctrl+alt+del (displays the username but no place to enter password) and then enter so i can finally use my fingerprint swipe to access it.

What can i do so i can access the computer straight with a fingerprint instead of doing the Ctrl+alt+del and then it will let me finally use the fingerprint access? Thanks

Ok so do you have the fingerprint software installed?

Since you didn't mention the OS you are using I am going to assume it's Vista 32-bit or XP 32-bit.

You can obtain the software from IBM's Download Page. This software will work in Vista 32-bit and XP 32-bit.

Install it, then run through the setup to enroll your fingerprint scan. Once that's done, reboot. You should now see an option for logging via fingerprint instead of password.

There's a check box, off by default, in the fingerprint software dialog box. It says that you wish to have the ability to use the fingerprint for actual Windows logon.

I just fought this on a machine in which a (Vista) installation was being performed from scratch, so I'm quite confident this is your problem. If that's not enough info, I'll fire up the machine and be more specific.

Just checked through the fingerprint software and client security solutions, not quite sure where that is.
