Replace T60 with.. what?

I want to replace my T60 (1953-D6U) (3yrs old I believe) with a newer unit.
I like the small size of the X series...

Here are my concerns:

1. Same screen or better than the quality/style of whatever I have now.
(ideally non-wide screen if possible)

2. Decent run time on batteries (4+hrs)

3. 802.11a Wifi (dont use B/G)

4. No fan noise. My T60 whines on/off even when the machine is doing
next to nothing. My Apple is whisper quiet and my last IBM (R40) was also very quiet.

I don't do any gaming. My laptop is basically used for remote access to servers and general web surfing/email etc.

Any thoughts, IBM or otherwise would be appreciated.

Do you mind sharing why you want to replace your T60?
Of your 4 "concerns", points 1 and 3 are not a problem with your current machine, I presume.
Point 2 can be addressed with a new 9-cell battery.
Point 4 can be addressed by installing TP Fan Control.

My T60 runs fine. I tried the TP Fan control and I had issues, so I left it at that.
I need a new laptop, since my wife wants to start using one and the T60 would be a good
choice for her, since its easy to use and has both style of mouse as well as a larger screen.

So while it would be a hand-me-down, it would serve her better than a small 12" machine.

Be very careful with the small widescreens - I went from a 12" X31 with an XGA screen, which was legible, to a 12" Dell WXGA screen which is illegible!

Expensive mistake!

yea, I have opted to stay on the T60 for now.
There is nothing out there I really like I guess...

You may want to get a X61, X61s or T61 with 14.1" SXGA+, provided that you can stand the crappy LCD panel of the last one. Otherwise it is as good as T60; it runs more quiter and has more power. If you want a more decent screen the there is no other way than to go for widescreen. It is sad truth.
