Question Regarding the Hardware Maintenance Disk

#1 Post by Kamika007z » Wed Jan 28, 2009 10:10 pm

Hi All,

I searched the forum regarding this, but wasn't able to find a specific answer on this specifically, so I was hoping someone could help make sense of it. :)

I recently had my motheboard replaced for me T61p, (8891-CTO) and I then had to write in the machine's system type, serial number, and UUID, all of which I was able to do successfully, however, when comparing values with my T60p, I noticed that it contained a couple more values (four of them) which I would like to also add, but do not know where to look for them.

Values were:

08 - CPU Card Serial Number
20 - System-unit Serial Number
38 - DC/DC Card Serial Number
40 - System board Serial Number

Originally, the board already had a value set for 40, I then added the value for 20, but do not know where I can obtain the values for both 08, and 38.

Could anyone help me with this?

Thank you in advance,
-Kamika007z

I think, you can find that s/n on CPU (on top or bottom) and on DC/DC board.
But you will have to disassemble it again :)

I was thinking that, thank you :)

Does anyone else have a more specific answer?

Maybe the hardware ref manual would help with this?

Thank you,

There are programs around (CPU-Z and Cpuid) that can give you the S/N for the CPU. Belarc Advisor maybe too?

The DC/DC card S/N you will have to find somewhere on the power board.

Actually, I believe the 38 record contains the serial number of the battery that was in the machine when it left the factory.

Yes!

38 is in fact the serial to the original battery which was shipped with the notebook.

I just compared it on my T60p and it's battery serial matched that of the readout on the HMD utility. :)

Now, anyone else know what 08 is for? I couldn't find any info using CPU-Z :(

Thank you!

CPU s/n is not "hard-coded" in it! Maybe you need just a part number, like 'SL7EN' etc.
What string do you have in T60p?

Maybe a long shot, but go to the Parts Lookup page
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... yle=lenovo
and type in your Type and Serial Number and perhaps the wanted S/N is on your original parts list!

What string do you have in T60p?

In my 2007-8JU T60p, I have this for 08:

11S41A1272ZVQ06871601K

My CPU on the T60p is a 2.33Ghz C2D

We're gettting close!!

Typing in my T60p's serial number yields:

41A1272 41W1413 FRU CPU ASM INTEL CORE-2 DUO PROC T7600 YES

I see that this info is IN that string I had written up above, however, I don't know the rest.

Its safe to say we now have: 11S41A1272
But we don't know where the other half is from, which is: ZVQ06871601K

Can anyone shed some any more light on this? :)

Thank you all for your help thus far! We're getting close!!! :)

Mystery solved all... I looked at the processor and there was, in fact, a sticker with the entire ID string right on the processor... :)

Thanks again for everyone's help with the matter! :)

Best,
