I recently replaced a 512MB ram with a 2GB RAM to have a total of 3GB ram(2+1GB) but regarless of how I switch the two slots, only 2GB shows up in Windows.

The model number is 2007FBG
T2500

Both rams are the same type made by Kingston, PC5200 I think, 677Hz.

I read that 3 GB is the max on a T60p, but y is only 2 showing up?

Any help would be appreciated

That´s definitely not normal, you should be able to see all 3 GBs of system memory. Since you have tried out various combinations RAM sticks + slots, the problem is most probably not a RAM slot. What does BIOS report? (it should report the full amount of system memory installed regardless of how much is utilizable/OS can see) Download cpu-z and have a look what it reports. Run memtest86 (free download), it may take some time to complete a few passes. I would say the 1 GB stick is faulty. We will see...

I ran CPU z with only the new memory installed. It shows me only 1GB of ram. This explained everything: nothing is faulty, but the new RAM I got off ebay is only 1GB as opposted to advertised 2GB! I will contact the seller now.
Thanks for the help!

So, it turned out to be the most trivial thing... :)
