T60p backlight very tempermental-Ideas/Options?

My T60p backlight has been very wierd recently. When I close the lid of the machine and open it again, the backlight does not come on the vast majority of the time (this does not appear at all to be a software thing, hibernating/restarting doesnt change anything). It started happening occasionally, but has gotten much worse since. Its still under warranty so I can get it fixed. However, Id rather not part with my machine for the time required to send it in for get serviced (Or would on-site service be able to do this quickly?)-is there anything simple I might be able to look at/fiddle with/fix it? If there is some simple half-working temporary thing I can do, that would probably be ok and I can send it in in a week or so.

Send it in. Most repairs are done within a 3 day turn-around.
