I just don't know how to get it working. Should I reinstall it?
Thank-you in advance.

EDIT: You sure you have Lenovo Power Management driver installed?

Yes, I have the Power Manager app and the power management driver. I'll give it a try, thanks.

I've found power manager (the app) to be quite unreliable under vista x64 sp1. Sometimes it comes up and sometimes it doesn't on startup. It always is the last thing to load and is pretty slow to load. The performance has improved somewhat in the latest version, but it's still a bit flaky on my system.

That´s why I use the old versions without the fancy new Vista look, just the classic black ThinkPad look

I am using the newest version (2.41a) in Vista Business 64-bit. It seems to work alright, but as pa877 notes, it is very slow to load. I do not load it at all on startup, but will start it to review or change power schemes. It is very slow to get started and leaves a Not Responding background screen in the background. Access Connections (any new GUI version) does the same thing.
I have drawn this to Lenovo's attention, but they have shown no interest in fixing it. ... JDH

I've reinstalled the latest edition and now I can run Power Manager but there's no taskbar app. What's the program that does that function, please?

Do you mean the battery gauge in the taskbar (next to the notification are)?

During Lenovo Power Manager install there is at the end a prompt with an option whether you want the battery gauge to start with windows. If you happened not to check this option, the battery gauge won´t automatically appear
even of you check the corresponding option under advanced settings in Power Manager. In this case the only solution would be to reinstall Lenovo Power Manager again and be careful to check the option in question when prompted. However, if you
haven´t missed that option, then all you need to do is to check that option under advanced settings in Power Manager.
Hope this helps

Hi, just wanted to report back and say thanks. I must have not checked it on installation because after reinstalling and making sure to go through the custom route, I saw the checkbox you mentioned and carried on with the installation. Everything's fine now. Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.

Just my 2 cents... I'd advise not to use the latest power manager application because it is a heavier candied up version from the previous one and also it boots up way slower too. But then again I am using XP pro.

I completely agree with you on that. However the older versions don't fit in very well visually with Vista. I don't really start it up that often so it doesn't bother me. What does bother me is that using the hot keys e.g. Fn+F5 takes ages to bring up those applications. Suspend and hibernate take a lot longer too.
Skip Vista. But Business is better than Home Premium.
