WXGA to WXGA+ Upgrade

Can it be done on a T61? I currently have a WXGA screen and I am able to buy a WXGA+ screen. Will it be compatible? The WXGA+ screen is for the T61, but it is a higher resolution. Also, when installing it, are the Black Pieces that cover the screws easy to come off and on?

Yes it can be done if the wxga+ screen is a genuine Lenovo part (see list below). The screw covers are easily removeable with a sharp exacto knife.

220nit, LG-Philips 42T0406
200nit, LG-Philips 42T0427
200nit, Samsung 13N7108
200nit, Samsung 42T0412
200nit, Samsung 42T0453

Once the caps are off with exacto knife, they go on easily right?

This was ordered directly from Lenovo. I also notice I have an integrated camera, this has nothing to do with the LCD right? It's not attached to it or anything? That wouldn't make sence..

The LCD has nothing to do with the camera. Worst case with the stickers is you might have to use double sided tape cut to size if the existing glue doesn't hold.

I currently have a 185 NIT screen. I got the 220 NITS. Should there be a big difference in terms of back light?

I don't need to change any other parts to do this upgrade right?

No other parts are required. The 220 NIT would certainly be noticeably brighter than the 185.

And I am going from Samsung to LG. Another noticeable upgrade right?

I haven't seen a 220nit LG, so no comment.

If the upgrade is done by a hired technician, it will be perfectly fine right? Exactly the same laptop just a better screen..?

Theorhetically that would be true, but the quality of the repair is dependant upon the skill of the technician.

On the manual it says I need double sided adhesive tape. Where would I go about finding the right tape for this? I want to make sure the tape is not to thick.

Which Samsung should I get?

HI
Before I go ahead with the upgrade from wxga to wxga+ I just wanted to make sure that I understood it correctly.
Am I right in assuming that the 42T0427 at http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 1953wt_915 will be compatible with my t61 7661-gn3?
And furthermore, can the partnumbers be fully trusted in regards to nit when I buy "unoriginal" "compatible" from ebay?
If the numbers can be trusted I have the choice between a (220nit, LG-Philips
42T0406 at 135$) and a (200nit, LG-Philips 42T0427 at 120$) both incl shipping from US to DK
Any noticeable difference between 220 and 200 nit?
Regards
Rune

1.) Yes
2.) Never trust EBay. Get a confirmation from the seller. Compatible could mean anything.
3.) Brightness

I attempted to do this upgrade to a 14" T61 using a non-Lenovo LCD that I had sitting around. The LCD worked, but the image was stretched and distorted. Could this be caused by having in incompatible (or no) EDID in the WXGA+ LCD? Does anyone have a copy of the Lenovo WXGA+ EDID they can share? I have an EPROM programmer, so reprogramming the EDID is not a problem.

I was shopping for some parts for my own T60, and I found these. No double sided tape needed, just put brand new ones back on. http://cgi.ebay.com/IBM-Lenovo-Thinkpad ... 3a5a18738f
