Black screen after wake-up

Hello!

My T60 have a black screen problem after wake up, which only happened when I:

1. Close the lid, the computer go to sleep mode standby
2. Open the lid, the computer wake up normally, screen also turn on
3. Leave computer unused, after a while the computer go to standby again. The lid is open now. (My settings in windows are Turn off monitor After 15mins, Turn off hard disk After 20mins, System standby After 45mins, System hibernate Never).
4. Now when I wake up the computer press Fn, the computer wakes up but the screen stays black. The only thing which help is close the lid(computer go to standby) and open lid again or press Fn+F4(computer goes to standby) and press Fn again.

I have Windows XP pro sp2
thinkpad power management driver 1.33
thinkpad power manager 1.13c

If anyone of you know what I should do to avoid this problem, please give your advise.
Thank you

It might be helpful to upgrade or downgrade your video driver.

or

a simple workaround is when your computer wake up with a blank sreen, you press
Fn+F7 several times, it will become normal. Good luck!

By coincidence I experience the same issue after installing Windows 7 beta. If I close and then open the lid, the screen stays black no matter which windows key combination I press. Only reboot seems to solve the problem as of now (no hard power off though, I have set the power button to reboot the machine if pressed, so even with the black screen my ThinkPad seems to recognize the command, it also seems to work normally otherwise). I haven´t tried Fn + F7 yet (I also don´t have Presentation Director, so I have no idea if it would work out for me...). I´ll try out different things and report back.

Cheers,

Marin

Hello!

After some investigation I found out that when screen is black the Fn+F7 still works. Because my setting in “Manage Settings for Fn+F7” is “Show me the Choose Display Scheme menu”, this menu actually start by Fn+F7 even screen is black. So I need to remember how many times up or down arrow key I need to push and then push enter to get “My Normal Display Settings” and screen turn on from black again.

Let me know if you know what cause this inconvenient and is there any solution for this.

Thank you!

It turned out that I have forgotten to install Lenovo Power Manager. I installed it and the problem seems to be gone now. FYI, I use an older version of Lenovo Power Manager (not the new fancy ones with the Vista outfit), so this could be something for you to try out as well. If you have Vista, let me know if you need the exact version of it (I have to check it).

BTW, welcome to the forum :)
