Some help upgrading to Vista

Hello all, I recently installed Vista on my T60 but I'm running into some problems. Mainly, I can't get all the features the T60 offers working like they did in XP. I downloaded a bunch of drivers and stuff like that from Lenovo's website, but I'm still missing some things. The biggest thing I'm missing is the volume indicator when I use the volume buttons next to the Thinkvantage button. In XP, a green bar thing would show up when I changed the volume. Nothing happens in Vista.

I did get the Thinkvantage button to work. When I hit it the same Productivity tab open up.

Also, I don't think the FN button is working. Any clue what software/drivers to dl to fix this stuff? Thanks a lot.

Regarding Fn functionality (hotkey) and the green volume bar (onscreen display), you need to install the following drivers in the following order:
1. Lenovo Power Management Driver (note, that´s different from Lenovo Power Manager)
2. Lenovo System Interface driver (small driver that most people forget when reinstalling :) )
3. Hotkey/onscreen driver (it´s actually one driver package)

Hope this helps,

Marin

EDIT: Please note that the above is not a full list of all drivers that you have to install, but only of those you directly need for the features you are asking for in your post. Also, depending on what Lenovo applications you have installed the output of Fn + may vary: if you have Access Connections (AC) installed, the windows of Fn+F5 is an extended version of the one without A; if you don´t have EasyEject installed, Fn + F9 won´t do anything but displaying a message that you need EasyEject to be installed in order to use it... (you can use windows built-in hardware safe removal feature instead); if you don´t have ultranav utility installed, then Fn + F8 will call mouse properties (which I find is very comfortable as you are offered there all settings you need including the ones for the track- and touchpad); if you don´t have Presentation Director installed, then Fn + F7 won´t do anything.

Hm, the volume works now, and so does the FN + F3 combination (for batter information) but when I hit FN and F7, which in XP brings up a box where I can choose what type of presentation scheme I want to use (external monitor, dual monitor, extended etc) nothing shows up. It will just switch between the different types. Also, when I do that, the resolution keeps resetting.

Indeed, the package for Vista has different "features" than the one for XP, some are extended, others are simply different. They also look different. BTW, there are different versions of Lenovo software for Vista. If you happen to use older versions, they very much look like the versions for XP.

Sorry, can´t really help with that question, I don´t use Presentation Director. Just an idea: maybe you could try setting this via ATI Catalyst Control Center (not sure though if you have to uninstall PD before as there could be some conflict between them resp. the PD might be overwriting the ATI CCC settings)...
