ThinkPad T60p - Docking, Crashes, Re-Docking

#1 Post by Jay_Z » Wed Feb 11, 2009 5:11 pm

Hey all,

Did a search here but didn't run across anything specific on other posts...

When I undock laptop, this process works great. When I bring back laptop to the dock, I have issues. The only way to re-dock seems to be shutting it down and restarting once it's docked.

Otherwise, if I dock it when it's turned on, it will immediately turn off and I have to resume or start from scratch, other times it will crash and I get the BSOD upon setting it on the dock.

Essentially, this can't effectively go from un-docked to docked without complications! I am running Windows Vista, I have all Windows Updates, ThinkVantage updates ...

Is this a common issue - any feedback? Thanks!

Vista is a POS, but only partly responsible for your problems. This link http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... 67382.html provides an answer to the non-BSOD half of your problems.

Great, that's good info - always encouraging when it's a known case.

Of course, it figures that one would have to pay to purchase a part such as this. Called Tech Support, they routed me to Sales and then they routed me to IBM Service Parts ... $15 (don't know about shipping charges) for a part that should already be a part of my Advanced Mini-Dock. In other words, I pay $15 to fix an issue in design (electrostatic discharge between dock/ThinkPad).

Thanks for the info!

The link you posted doesn't work, and I'm actually having the same problems. Could you relink please?

I actually went to dock the T60 today and it just went blank. Trying to turn it back on didn't do anything - I thought I had somehow bricked the computer. I ended up haveing the take the battery out, waiting several minutes, then trying to turn it on before it (thank heaven) came back to life.

Thanks
Sean

The link is quite slow to load - go to Lenovo.com or IBM.com and enter MIGR-67382 into the search field, this will bring up the document/page
