T60 Memory: difference between WinXP, BIOS & PC Doctor

Hi All:
I recently upgraded my system RAM on my T60 (with ATI 64 Gfx) from 1.5 Gig to 3 Gig (using a 1 gig & 2 gig chip).
Prior to the upgrade, the BIOS, Windows XP & PC Doctor 5 saw 1.5 MB. After the upgrade, the BIOS & Windows XP see 3 GB, but PC Doctor 5 sees 3 Gig physical, but 2.18 free and 2.0 Gig Maximum Supported Memory.
What's up with that???
Thanks!

If PC-Doctor reports 2.18 GBs free memory, then there is no way your ThinkPad would support only 2 GB

I guess it´s some sort of a bug in PC-Doctor. To verify that you could download
cpu-z. ThinkPad T60 can utilize up to 3 GBs (no matter what OS, due to memory limitations), but if 3 or more GBs are installed, then it should be able to use all 3 GBs. Since you have installed new memory, I would check it for problems; for this purpose you could use
memtest86. BTW, if your ThinkPad is T60 and comes with an ATI card, then it´s ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 with 128 MB dedicated video memory.
if any problems appear, post back
Marin
EDIT: Update PC-Doctor...

I can't say enough good stuff about memtest86. Actually I would recommend memtest86+, which has been more actively developed the last couple of years. The website is
http://www.memtest.org . Their chipset detection is much improved in recent months. No affiliation, just a very happy user.

Sorry, I always forget about the split-up in the developing team and the "plus" sign

Hi Everyone:
Thanks for the tips & info. I did run both memtest86 & cpu-z. All tests ran fine with no errors, and both note the correct 3 Gig of RAM. I guess it's just a glitch with PC Doctor (and how it is seeing my RAM). But again, thanks for the assist.

Glad that memtest86+ ran fine. It´s important to know that your system memory OK from the beginning on.
Cheers,
