Which T60 fits me

What is a fair price for a T60p with the following spec

CPU doesn't matter (T2500 or T2600 or T2700)
RAM doesn't matter (1GB standard?)
Must be 15inch FlexView (UXGA only?)
Video doesn't matter (likely only FireGL V5200?)
Drive doesn't matter (100GB 7200rpm standard?)
Wireless NIC doesn't matter (ThinkPad abg or Intel abg would do)
Don't care about WWAN
Blue tooth a must
Biometric a must

I wonder if anyone will sell one of these :)

Thanks

[Edit]
I should ask this instead. Which T60 fits me
* 15 inch FlexView, biometric, bluetooth a must
* the rest it can be anything. CPU at least T2500. Higher the better of course. RAM at least 1GB. Don't really play games. I can give up DVD burner (got external)
* I value long battery life. Battery should last me 2.5 - 3 hours
* the lighter the better, but FlexView force me a 15 inch ones, so can't do much about it
* I want something that'll last me a while. Is T60p hotter when compare to T60? Can heat possibly shorten a laptop's life (like from 3 years to 2 years and 10 months)
* I know I will get a used one, but it should be fairly clean

Am I better off with a T60?

Post over in the Marketplace forum you're looking for a T60p. The last ones I saw that sold here were going for about $900 if I recall correctly.

You're looking at $700+ for a respectable example of a T60p, on eBay or CL. The price would include some warranty remaining.

Expect to pay a little more around here in the Marketplace, but peace of mind is well worth it IMHO.

My $0.02 only...

This seems to have been a nice, reasonably priced machine on ebay.

German ones probably are. For that we have a shorter right shift key. The size of the keys has nothing to do with the ThinkPad model, it's just a keyboard layout thing.

You probably mean shorter shift key on the left :) Yup, sure one can always change the keyboard with another that has different layout. I only thought that all T60p 4:3 units came from factory with the big enter key... It´s a pity that this isn´t really the case. Thanks for the clarification. And BTW, I like the full-sized blue enter key :)

[OFFTOPIC]

I would seriously cripple anyone who tried to give me a keyboard with a short left shift key. ;)

I am very happy that the Hebrew Thinkpad keyboard layouts are identical to the US layouts. Same thing for the Lenovo desktop keyboards. I only buy desktop keyboards that have this same layout, and so I don't have to get used to several different ones.

This layout is nearly perfect - large shift keys, large backspace, reasonably large enter

For me, however, the ideal thing would be: take the English US layout, enlarge the Enter at the expense of the backslash, and move the backslash to the right of the Right Shift. This would make the enter huge (as it should be), the backspace still big, and the Right Shift would still be big enough.

Unfortunately, this layout is used on very few keyboards. Most of them tend to stick the backslash next to the backspace, making it tiny, which is unaccceptable.

Off topic: IMO the right shift on my keyboard is somewhat too big. I think they could have cut a bit off it to enlarge the left shift key which is indeed a bit too small. That way I would have two equally middle-sized shift keys. I would keep the backspace as big as it is now, but I would remove the right windows menu key. It´s pretty useless to me (though I would keep the windows key as it can be assigned many nice functions in Linux) :) BTW I´d love to have my F-keys in gray and the red stripes on the trackpad...

Cheers,

Marin

Fellow Californian, you're in luck. I have several of exactly what you're looking for. I'm currently in Los Angeles, but will be up in the Bay Area (Redwood City to be exact) come 2 weeks from now. PM me your email address, and/or phone #, and I'll give you a buzz.

Cheerios.

Congrats on your T60p... Only think is it has problems with the cooling mechanism.. I have a T60 it is the same here
it gets way hotter and louder than my loyal T42 (which is the best designed Thinkpad ever IMHO).

But it can be modded to work fine...

Cheers ....

This "new" T60p
* missing screw for the cover of internal HD (is there screws I can buy to fix this?)
* rust like substance in the inside edge of DVD burner (can still burn DVD +L DL I throw at it last night)
* some wobbling after I close the lid
* wireless NIC go crazy last night (one second it's up, another it's down, and I had to power cycle)

Still, not a bad piece of machine

Trust me, I ain't complaining :D

In fact, I just took apart the T60p, and used canned air to blow the heatsink
Man... was it dusty!
There's even some dust bunny came out!

Probably I am a clutz, as I can't put the screws back in as deep as it was before
Oh well, it's tight enough for me :D

After cleaning out some of these dusts, NHC reported idel temp around 55. It used to be in the low 60s
