wireless starts off instead of on

I have a T60 with Windows XP. I've reinstalled the OS as this came with Vista and I've put in a larger harddrive.

At one point, my system was such that when I powered on, it would connect to my home network (wireless). Now however, when I power on, the wireless is turned off. Once I turn it on, I then have to connect to my network.

In addition, when I wakeup from sleep, it does not reconnect to my network and I have to connect it manually.

I went through Access Connections but could not locate the appropriate settings to correct this. Please guide me.

Thanks.

Check the power setting in Access Connection (Wirelss Settings -> Advanced) to make sure the card is set for maximum performance. Same goes for Power Manager and the NIC Driver. Changing all these generally avoids the problem you mention (at least for me). .... JDH

Also: Device Manager -> network adapters -> your wireless card -> power management -> uncheck allow computer to turn off the device to save power

Changing the settings in device manager at corrects the sleep issue. Will test the power cycle issue when I reboot next time.

Thanks!

Just a thought to what JDH suggested: you may have to create a new profile in Lenovo Power Management because the default profiles will probably overwrite some of the changes next time you reboot.

In AC, click on Configure tab and select Location Switching... Enable Location switching list with your desired profile.
