Using T61 in 802.11n Wireless Mode

I've got a three month old T61 with the 4965AGN Wireless card. I've just upgraded my home network to a D-Link Dir-855 router. I'm unable to get the T61 to connect in anything except 802.11g. Looking at the properties set-up for the card, it clearly has 802.11n capability, but I can figure out a way to force it into that mode.
I've read through some of the posts here and haven't found a solution, although I saw the note about needing a third antenna. Is there a way to tell whether or not my T61 has the third antenna without opening it up. And if it doesn't have it, what do I need to get to install one?
Thanks for any insights you can provide.
Dennis

Hm, just a thought, how about Device Manager -> Network Adapters -> your wifi card -> advanced. There you might find a way to "enforce" n-channel.

That's one of the puzzling things about this. When I go into the properties on the card, it goes through a long list of "n" settings, but the last item in the list is "Wireless Mode" and all the options on it are some combination of a,b, and g, with no "n" in sight.

Hm, I understand now what you mean.

For 11n, you must use WPA/WPA2-PSK with AES encryption.
On the router end, start with 20Mhz bandwidth and channel 6. If there are other routers close by using channel 6 already, try channel 3 or 8.

That did it. It was the AES encryption. I had read that before, but missed the place to set it.
Now I'm seeing the 130 Mbps that I've seen references to. Need to work on improving that, but now that I've got an "n" connection, I should be able to work on it.
Many thanks!

Thank you sooooooo much for the EAS thing.
For those of you who are still confused. You need not do anything with your router but make sure it's set to WPA/WPA2 Personal.
Then in your thinkpad wireless connection setup screen, go to "Modify LAN Settings"
Select "Auto" for wireless mode.
Select WPA-PSK for Wireless Security type.
Then click the properties button under that and select WPA2-PSK and AES in the two drop downs.
Then reconnect to the network and you should see it connecting via the N protocol.
You're set! THANK YOU SOO MUCH AGAIN!!!
Ignore the stuff below, I'm gonna do everyone a favor and make it easy to find this post by improving the keyword searches:
