Issues with dropping internet connection

I have been having recently problems with my internet connection on the T60p running windows XP SP3 with all patches and the ThinkVantage updates installed.
When I connect to the internet via wireless (and also with the ethernet cable), the connection works for a while and suddenly it becomes impossible to connect using either internet-explorer or firefox. IE gives me back a http:/// and firefox hangs.
Interesting enough, the task bar tells that I am still online. I can ping a machine outside without any issues but no web-browser is able to reach out. When I try an FTP I am getting the following error:
ftp:bind :No buffer space is supported
This is getting really frustrating as the only solution is to reboot the laptop. I have tried redoing a clean install than the installation of SP and patches but that did not solve the problem.
As anyone encountered such a problem and found a solution? I would really appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks
Eric
