Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-842 XP Driver

#1 Post by sshynk » Sun Feb 22, 2009 2:36 pm

I need a Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-842 Windows XP Driver for a T60. Lenovo's website does not have one. Where can I get one?

I'm not sure that you really need one. I've attached the slightly thicker versions (UJ-820, UJ-840, UJ-850) in Ultrabay 2000 systems and Windows recognized it and they work with Nero to burn CDs and DVDs. What exactly are you trying to do or what doesn't work the way you think it should?

Device manager says the driver is either corrupted or missing. It doesn't install correctly. I tried uninstall and reinstall with no luck.

Try to remove the drive and insert it again. Also try to uninstall the IDE controller driver and reboot. You need no driver for the DVD drive itself.

I am going to dig this one back up. I have the same drive, but Win 7 pro 32 bit. I can't get a DVD to burn. I have tried Nero 9, ConvertX (great program!) and even just having windows do it, none of them work. I get an error almost immediately. Most of the time Windows tells me there isn't a disk in the drive when there actually is. This drive worked fine in XP and burned disks. It will burn a CD fine now, just not DVD's. I am using the good Verbatim media (DVD+R) and turned 6 or 7 in to coasters now.

I uninstalled the DVD driver and reinstalled it, but that did nothing. I have updated everything through System Update and also went through Microsoft Update.

Can you put it in a different machine and test whether it works there?

And perhaps try DVD-R disks?

Looks like the drive might be bad. I put it in my wife's T42 with XP and it will not recognize it has a DVD in it either, weird. Thanks guys!
