*HELP* T61 Cracked Screen

Gents,

The screen on my T61 is cracked, it's a 1680x1050 unit, can someone tell if it would be possible to swap out the screen from a Z61m (also 1680x1050) and stick that into this machine?

I'm desperate as this T61 is my main work comp and I need it sorted ASAP, any help would MUCH appreciated.

Go to this page of the Lenovo web site. It will ask you for the machine type and serial number, it will give you a detailed list of the part numbers for your specific T61.Then repeat for your Z61m, at that point you will see if they are interchangeable.

Unfortunately, that would not give him a 100% accurate information. If there is a match, then yes - it means they are interchangeable. If there is none - it does not mean that they are not. Lenovo often has multiple FRUs for compatible parts, and even for the very same part.

Ok, next question.

Is it possible that I can put a HIGHER res screen on this T61? Could is put in a 1920x1200 screen??

The machine type is a 6457-4UG with an nvidia NVS140 graphics card.

Can't see why not. T61p's come with WUXGA screens often, and certainly weaker devices than the Quadro NVS can support WUXGA and higher res well enough.

The one thing I am not sure about is whether the T61 BIOS (as opposed to the T61p BIOS) will natively recognize the EDIDs of the WUXGA screens.

List of FRU's used in models can be found in the hardware maintenance manuals for the respective models.

Yeah, found an online page with it all on

The part numbers are different between the Z61m and the T61.

The T61 version is (I assume) any one of the 3 below:

Samsung 42X4641
LG 42T0417
LG 42T0423

The Z61m I have takes the following:

LG-Phillips 13N7020
Samsung 13N7116

Situation is getting bad so I think I might just bite the bullet and order a replacement from the part sales lot unless there's some way I can verify that the one out of my Z61m will work.
