My T60P trackpoint stick keeps turning on by itself... I keep turning it back off in the control panel ("mouse settings) but ... after a few re boots.. it is back on...
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Try disabling it in the BIOS? That would be a more permanent fix (I think that's an option).Turboqueef wrote:This is really irritating![]()

Yes, this is how I disable it.. through control panel by unchecking the box... but then after a few boot up's the box is checked again... very strange... O.. synapatics version is: 11.1.21.0 dated 7/03/08Marin85 wrote:Have you tried Control Panel -> Mouse Properties -> UltraNav -> TrackPoint -> Settings -> uncheck "press-to-select" ? Also, which version of synapatics do you have installed?
Hi,beGi wrote:Use Thinkpad configuration to disable various hardware parts of your unit...
It is one of few Thinkvantage apps that I don't uninstall...

And BTW...nice username. I LOL'ed.
Apparently you use XP. For XP installations I still stick to the versions around v7.5Turboqueef wrote:... synapatics version is: 11.1.21.0 dated 7/03/08
Sorry for the misunderstanding, I thought you want to disable trackpoint completely...Turboqueef wrote:I just opened the configuration app... when I access the trackpoint settings, it just opens the control panel window (same window I get when accessing through control panel)..
No need to be sorry... I appreciate the feedback... thank you!!beGi wrote: Sorry for the misunderstanding, I thought you want to disable trackpoint completely...
I may need to try that out... I did try to uncheck the press to select box using the Thinkvantage app.. and it still returned to checked after one reboot. I am looking for 7.5 version now.Marin85 wrote:Apparently you use XP. For XP installations I still stick to the versions around v7.5(but I don´t use XP anyway) because they simply work without any such problems. I remember another thread with a similar problem -> the OP wanted to turn off the TrackPoint Scrolling Tips, but after reboot they were enabled again. Maybe using an older version of synaptics would solve your problem.
Cheers,
