Color Quality Problem

Hi,

I have ThinkPad T60P, Window XP SP3.

Yesterday when I booted my ThinkPad the screen size was very small and there was an ATI graphic window stating that ‘No ATI graphic driver is installed, or the ATI driver is not functioning properly. Please install the ATI driver appropriate for your ATI hardware.’ Why this happened, I have no idea since I just booted my computer as usual. I wasn’t doing anything with it beforehand.

I check the Device manager > Display Adapter and there was a yellow ! mark for Display Adapter. I went to Add or Remove programs and from ATI-Software Uninstall Utility I completely removed the ATI driver and CCC software. Next after reboot, I went to Safe mode and used ‘Driver Cleaner.Net’ to clean and remove ATI completely from computer.

From Lenovo I downloaded the latest driver for my T60P version 8.533.3.1-081110a-075168 and installed it on my ThinkPad. However, now I can no longer change the Color quality to 32 bit from the ‘Display Properties’. The first time it goes dark comes back in 32 bit asks me if I want to keep it. Once I click it yes, it goes dark and comes back 16 bit. Next time it won’t even try the 32 bit. I can only change the Color quality to 32 bit from ATI Catalyst Control Center.

Now every time window boots up my screen goes black for few seconds for the color change. Before I had 32 bit and my T60P didn’t do this. I uninstall and reinstall it but no joy.

Any idea how I can fix this?

Thanks
