T60 wired LAN connection drops after 2 minutes or so.... grr

Hi,

I have a T60 with Intel PRO/1000 PL wired connection and Intel PRO/ 3945 ABG wireless. I can't figure this out. If I plug into my office network, it will connect, give me an IP, etc, and I can go about my business on the network for about two minutes and then it just stops working. If I unplug the ethernet cable and then plug it back in... wait for DHCP... ok, cool, I am back on... for 2 minutes.

The wireless seems to work fine.

I've tried two drivers - same problem on each.

Installed Access Connections, uninstalled Access Connections.. doesn't make a difference. Two minutes then it drops.

Running XP pro.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

If there is another wired network nearby I would try it. If that fixes the problem then it could be the network port on your office network. I would try uninstalling and then re-installing the network card which you mentioned you already did with your note about two drivers.

Unfortunately you may be looking at a repair of your T60 if the problem moves to other wired networks.

Maybe the following is the solution? Note: that is for an Acer. You likely would need a different download.
simon wrote:Problem: Ethernet connection drops randomly and intermitently. The driver
constantly restarts itself (Event ID: 42 from source e1express). This means
that the network connection stalls, sometimes causing the entire system to
stall.

Root Cause: Bad eeprom on the NIC from Intel

Solution:

1. Download intel_eeprom.zip from
ftp://ftp.support.acer-euro.com/not...te_8200/driver/
2. Extract, start Command Prompt
3. Run eeupdatew32 /BUS=3 /DEV=00 /DATA TEKOA_A3.txt
4. Reboot
5. Enjoy and be happy
