ATT WWAN on T60p

Is there any ATT mini PCI card that the T60p's BIOS and antennas will take? My Verizon is not cutting it.

I assume I just replace the mini PCI card and plug everything in? Do I need a SIM holder too?

Thanks!

I don't know the answer to all your questions, but I do know that they make cards that work with AT&T. Look at the following list for parts. The AT&T card is listed as Cingular, but I know Cingular works because I have a Cingular branded Sierra Wireless 860 AirCard.

That said, you might be better off just getting a USB, PC Cardbus, or ExpressCard modem instead. It will likely cost less, and can be upgraded easily. It should also support the fastest 3G speeds which the card from Lenovo might not. I just bought an unlocked Sierra Wireless 881 PC Cardbus card about 3 weeks ago on ebay (using "Buy it now") for $40.

Thanks.

I thought I looked and it was verizon only. I see they list a SIM holder. I HATE external USB junk hanging out of the computer. Plus they never work as well as embedded. I seem to break off the antennas in my bag if anything sticks out.

Now I wonder if a Sierra wireless 8775 or Erickson F3507g will work with the T60's bios? Anyone know?

Hmm, if by AT&T you also mean HSDPA, then the T60/p was also available with the Sierra Wireless MC8755 card.
The Verizon card is either MC8720 and MC8725 depending on how new the T60/p model is.

You could probably get many more cards to work using Zender's modified BIOS. With no modification, foreign cards are blacklisted by the BIOS.

Both the Sierra Wireless MC8775 and Ericsson f3507g be it Lenovo branded or otherwise will need a BIOS patch as they are not included in the BIOS whitelist as supported WWAN card(s) - Please refer to the excellent post T6x BIOS device whitelist (error 1802/1804) [solved] by forum member Zender for more background info.

It looks like the Cingular card listed in the Service Parts List for the T60p is a Sierra Wireless MC8765.

Sierra Wireless wrote:Both the MC8755 and MC8765 PCI Express Mini Cards are built using the latest MSM6275™ Mobile Station Modem™ chipset from QUALCOMM and offer peak download speeds of 1.8 Mbps. The MC8765 utilizes the 850/1900 MHz HSDPA UMTS frequency bands and is targeted primarily for use in North America, while the MC8755 operates on the 2100 MHz HSDPA UMTS frequency band and is designed for markets in Europe and Asia.
The MC8775 is not listed for the T60p, so you would likely have boot problems. Check Peak2Peak's post for a possible solution.
Sierra Wireless wrote:The MC8775 PCI Express Mini Card embedded module supports all three HSDPA/UMTS frequency bands (850, 1900, and 2100 MHz) and all four EDGE/GPRS bands (850, 900, 1800, and 1900 MHz) used worldwide, allowing for seamless global roaming on the best available network. Out of the box, the MC8775 supports peak theoretical data rates up to 3.6 Mbps on HSDPA networks*, with the potential for future upgrades to provide support for peak data rates of up to 7.2 Mbps*. Advanced radio features reduce signal interference and deliver better data throughput – especially beneficial to users in urban areas, which often have high levels of signal noise.
