Nearly constant Blue Screens on my T61

I have a 10 month old T61 7662-CTO (2.5 C2D 160GB 7200RPM w/ discrete graphics) that started to BSOD (blue screen) a few weeks ago and it hasn't stopped since. It would BSOD every so often everyday, sometimes back to back after it restarts which is crazy.



The only hardware/driver change that I could think of shortly before the BSOD's started to happen was my addition of a 8GB Lexar Expresscard for ready boost, but I don't think that is the problem. The other change was my addition of a 2GB stick of RAM 4-4-4-12, which on top of my stock 1GB RAM totaled my system out to 3GB, but that might not be the issue since I took out and returned the new ram thinking that the problem was defective ram, and went with my old ones. In addition, I upgraded some of my drivers via system update, mainly the power manager, BIOS and video card drivers; not sure if any of those might be the culprit.



I hope I can find the problem, because my last resort would be to factory restore my laptop which I really don't prefer to do. I appreciate and insight or help that I can get from this forum.

Try doing a crash dump analysis to isolate the problem to a running process/driver;

Try running a memory test from PC Doctor. Your old stick could be bad

I tried a PC Doctor memory test and everything checked out. I looked around on the internet for instructions on debugging the dmp file but it seemed very complicated. Is there an easier way to analyze dmp files? Will a factory restore correct the problem? If it doesn't, would that mean that it would be a software issue as opposed to a driver software issue?

In the case of XP; x86 = XP Pro 32 bit. x64 = XP Pro 64 bit.

Have you tried removing the ready-boost memory (this was a problem with turbo memory, a little different, I realize) and/or rolling back your drivers (or doing a system restore to a time before the blue screens)?

Failing that, if you've checked your existing 1Gb RAM stick, a factory restore should eliminate the problem (as it wasn't doing this originally). If that doesn't work, you may have some other hardware problem.

Well from the lenovo forum it was suggested that I deactivate the ready-boost which I did and I will use the computer for a bit to see it the BSOD comes up again. As far as a system restore is concerned, I'm not sure how far back to exactly go, and not sure if I should bother with it, but I will try anyways. At this point I'm kind of leaning towards factory restoring it when my new 4gig ram comes (2x2gigs)...
