Hey everyone,
Trying to install my OS (Windows Vista, and Windows 7 (I'm a developer testing some software, etc)), during the install, the machine completely locks up.
Searching around on Google, main culprit seems to be RAM voltage. I remember this issue on my desktop as well, I had changed it from auto to about 2.0 volts, and it was stable as a table.
Any ideas where I can get to this menu or somehow do this adjustment?
Coulda sworn there was a hidden menu or something in the BIOS
My BIOS is kinda old, I think upgrading that would be a first step (2008-11-14).
Memcheck came up clean, no problems.
Any ideas?

What is your ThinkPad?
I remember there are indeed some BIOS updates that resolve windows installation hangs, I´m not sure though if these updates apply to your machine as well, but it´s definitely worth a check. I doubt that RAM voltage is here the problem, I´m not aware of a single report on this kind of issues on current ThinkPads, the 667 MHz laptop memory is pretty much uniform across the well known manufacturers (though in the beginning there were some issues with Kingston memory and T60 units, but that was very long time ago).
It could be also the HD not properly attached to the connectors.

Re: Complete lockups
I have been looking around, haven't seen any updates like that, but I will look more specifically now that there's an idea. I have the latest BIOS update apparently
