T60 lags

Hello everyone!

I have a problem with my T60 laptop. When I want to play some music or watch movies, surf the web or otherwise and when I'm on webpages that requires that I write something (like this page :D ), it's like my computer stutters / lags behind.
Cursor runs fine to start with, but then it runs slow after a few characters and can not keep up. The rest of what I write appears after some seconds.
Someone who has ideas on why it does so? It has been tested for viruses, spyware, adware.

Right now it's impossible to controle the mouse because of the lagging...

Do you use a docking station? I have these problems with my T60 when connecting my keyboard and mouse to the advanced mini dock. After connecting both to the thinkpad directly, everything runs great.

I've been noticing considerable lags and near-lockups over the last few months-- I've had my 60p for almost three years-- I have absolutely adored it every minute, with no functional problems (other than the battery dying)... but lately it's happening more and more, and I can't see any reason for it, as the conditions of use have not changed at all.

I have 2gb of memory-- as 2x 1GB-- should I just buy a single 2gb stick as a memory upgrade to max it at three (1x 1, 1x 2)?

I can't think of what else to do.

Open Task Manager window and take a close look at the cpu usage from the Processes tab, you may be able to spot the process that causes the lags.

As ssd_thinkpad said, sometimes docking station could cause lags too. But redock or reboot will solve it.

Also, it could be hardware-related issue. Boot into some Linux LiveCD and see if the same problem persists (note it will have some reduced performance due to accessing the CD/DVD drive, but this performance change should definitely feel different from what you describe).
