ive been working on my T60 with ATI X1400 so i changed the fan, after turning on my laptop the display is showing vertical green lines all over the screen, i can still work on the laptop and see everything but green lines are all over the screen.
i swaped the fans several times and nothing happened, but now after i decided which fan id keep, all of a sudden its there.
could anyone tell me what prob, short circuit? driver? display damage? it might be.
i unplugged the screen cable for several times but nothing happened too.
thanks
green lines on screen after T60 fan changed.
Re: green lines on screen after T60 fan changed.
My guess is that you have broken the solder joints on the BGA of your graphics chip. It appears the X1400 is a BGA chip.

You can connect an external monitor to the VGA port and see if the problem shows up there as well. If you see it on the external monitor too, then you probably have bad solder joints on the BGA. If you are under warranty, then send it in. Otherwise you might want to check the Reflow add at the top of the forum page. Also, a forum member jamiphar does reflow work. Not sure if he does work for those outside the US or not.

Re: green lines on screen after T60 fan changed.
If it is a GPU problem (e.g. the GPU having partly deattached from the motherboard) it is most likely very expensive to ship either the entire T60 or the motherboard alone all the way forth and back to/from the USA. If the T60 in question is no longer under warranty, I would suggest to contact forum-member poshgeordie (Nick) who has recently begun to offer GPU-reflowing here in Europe; see Nick's advertisement in the sticky --> Graphics Chip Resolding now available in UK and Europe. Also, note the outstandingly positive customer-feedback in the thread Graphics Resoldering Service Launched in UK and Europe.
