Computer restarts repeatedly on Battery

#1 Post by cspgsl » Sun May 03, 2009 9:10 am

Whenever I remove the AC supply from my machine and go onto battery the machine waits for 30 seconds and then without warning restarts. It will come back up (XPP) and then restart again within a couple of minutes. This repeats itself until I plug it back in.

The battery reads 100% when not connected to the AC so I'm thinking it's a setting somewhere.

Any thoughts out there?

Thanks

Do you have another battery to try?

When on AC, go to Control Panel --> System --> Advanced tab --> Startup and Recovery ... click Settings button --> find System Failure box --> uncheck "Automatically restart" and "OK"

Then when it fails after removing the AC, you will probably see a BSOD with your error message and maybe a module name. Hopefully, with the specific messages in the BSOD you will be able to search for a solution.

Unfortunately, automatic restarts during failures are the default.
