Replacing heat pads with something else?

Instead of using the gpu heat pad, pressing the passive cooler to the gpu is far more effective. In this case the gpu had the same cool temperature like the cpu. However you need to press the passive cooler to the gpu for having direct contact between cooler and gpu. Did anyone notice this and what would you suggest?

Take a look at this thread: Improving T60p heatsink performance

I believe there are other similar threads on this forum if you look for them.

Thanks! This is exactly the thread I was looking for! Definitely will go this route when not upgrading to an integrated board.

You have to bend the heatsink to make perfect contact with the GPU, but otherwise it should work fine. I think those thermal pads are made from some pretty sophisticated stuff; they look like they'd be better insulators but if you touch one it feels cold (ie its doing it's job drawing heat out of your finger)!
