T60p UXGA panel still black when increasing backlight?

#1 Post by ssd_thinkpad » Wed May 06, 2009 8:29 am

I am currently working with a T60 SXGA+ 15 inch panel. When I increase the backlight, the black color turns somewhat gray / less black. I wonder if an upgrade to the UXGA panel from the T60p series would give me better contrast. How is your UXGA panel when you increase your backlight?

Who made your current SXGA+? BOE-Hydis or LG-Philips?
Regardless of what, i don't think you will gain more contrast - but there might be differences in how the different flexview panels perform with regards to viewing angle during low luminosity/black images. This means that perceptually one may look more pitch-black than another eventhough the nits rating would be the same.
