Do T61 mini docks come in different sizes?

I may have done something dumb. I bought a T61 mini dock expecting to put it on my 15" T61. But it is narrower than the computer, and the stickers on the bottom make me think it's made for a 14" T61. Do they make a wider one? Can I use the narrower one on my wide machine anyway?
Also, it looks like the mini dock has a fan--is it loud?
I haven't tried it yet because my T61 is currently running a long duration task, so I don't want to power it off to attach the dock until that finishes.

It sounds like you have an advanced minidock. All models of T61 will fit.

The Advanced Mini-Dock fits all Z/T/R/W models from 60 and up (except the "economy" models which don't have a docking connector and the W700 which uses its own special dock).
Yes, the dock is narrower than the computer.

A couple of things:
1. The advanced mini dock does not have a fan. If your unit has a fan, then it is the Advanced Dock. And yes, that one is loud enough to be annoying sometimes.
2. You do not need to power down your Thinkpad to attach it to the dock (mini or otherwise). It's hot dockable (though there may be instances when you cannot undock it without putting it into sleep mode).

This may be needless to say, but don't disconnect the power cord from the dock before undocking and most
especially not on a 65W adapter.
