Replacement LCD options for T60 15.4 WS

Hi,

I posted recently about video corruption on my T60 15.4 display. I have since disassembled the lid and bezel and determined through manipulation of the various components that the malfunction is definitely the LCD panel itself.

Now that I'm comfortable removing the panel I feel ready to look for a replacement. The panel I have now is the LP154W02, an LG panel. One option, of course, is to replace it with the same panel, which seems readily available on ebay.

Since I have the opportunity, I'm wondering whether there are any "better" panels I could use instead. This LG is ok, but a little dim compared to other laptops I've seen, even in matte finish.

In researching other 15.4 WS panels with the same overall dimensions, I see some strong reviews of the WSXGA+ display on the
ASUS Z70VA. These panels are also available on ebay. Does anyone know how likely it is I could drop this panel into the T60? How standardized are, say, the video cable and the screw mount holes?

Any other recommendations for a 15.4 either matte or glossy that could fit into the T60? I'm willing to replace with the same original but just want to know my options before committing to one.

thanks!

You are at a risk of frying the machine if you install a wrong screen...

Having said that, go with the one that you know, you won't get better than that on a 15.4" ThinkPad, only worse.

Good luck.
