Just gave my son a T61p (14.1" 4:3 SXGA+) and wanted to set the resolution to 1024x768. Every time the computer powers down or goes to sleep it restarts in 1400x1050. I know it's probably something simple I'm overlooking, but anybody got any ideas how to keep it at XGA resolution?

Just curious, why would you want to run the machine at a non-native resolution, where the screen would be blurry? Wouldn't you want to bump up the DPI to make things bigger? Vista does this better than XP.

I have a T61p and I keep it at 1280x1024 and it never resets to native. I run Vista Business and in Classic (non-Aero) mode, so I don't know if that would be the reason. I did try 1024x768 but the results were poorer than I wanted, and 1280x1024 works clearly and crisply and so I settled on that. I will look around but I don't know why it doesn't stick. ... JDH

Well, on a 14" screen, 1400x1050 is a bit small on the eyes. 1024x768 is a little blurry but with cleartype, it's not bad. When I've tried increasing the font in the past it only increases the size on certain screens/frames. I'll try DPI and 1280x1024 and see if that's works.

In theory (and I'm basing this on my NVidia drivers and Vista) you right-click on the dekstop, select Personalize, Display Settings, and then move down the DPI and click APPLY before clicking OK.
If that doesn't stick, I would expect the video driver is buggy. Video drivers being infamous for that, check for the latest version and also check with tech support--because sometimes the latest version adds new bugs like that.

OK, thanks. I'll try updating the driver. I'm a "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" kinda guy but I think we can agree here something is broke!
