T60 Splash Screen Problem

#1 Post by vee217 » Thu Jun 04, 2009 2:06 am

I have my t60 for two years now, i received it through my college and it has been nothing but annoying since day one but only recently has it gotten real bad. I am running Windows Xp which came pre-installed in it. Recently when i start up the laptop it will freeze on the splash screen. If it does not freeze on the splash screen i will get to a window where my cursor appears. The second i touch the cursor the little HDD light on the laptop goes out and the entire thing freezes up. I can even remove the hard drive and the screen will remain the same. I contacted lenovo and they sent me a new hard drive saying that it was a faulty HDD but i couldnt even re-install windows onto the new HDD because as soon as rescue and recovery booted up and i went to move the mouse it froze on me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Remove your battery and see what happens. There is a resource conflict problem with these laptops and bad or failing batteries that will cause the laptop to lockup when the touchpad is used.
