50Hz QXGA EDID for T60P

The standard EDID that was distributed to allow for compatibility with this model only allows for 40hz. The blanking times on this edid are very high. I've done some testin giwht my t60p and the IAQX10N with a firegl V5250 and reduced the blanking times significantly. I have not tested this EDID with other graphics cards, thought I beleive it will work properly. I have no problems with the 50Hz edid in my laptop. You can flash with POWERSTRIP without removin a single screw from your laptop.

Now that we are talking about changes,
In order for it to actually work correct during a full recovery of windows, there must be one more change:
0x0A should be 49 (This is not a LEN4046 LCD, it should be LEN4049).
But even then, there are still issues - each time the machine boots windows, it is detected as a LEN4040, no matter what i do. Even if i change the EDID now stored in the registry back, it is just overwritten with one belonging to a standard 15" XGA thinkpads LCD. It has done this since i re-installed windows
And while we're at it, some minor updates to make it look nice:
it still says "HV150UX1-100" from "0x71 to 0x7C. Might as well change it to IAQX10, i.e. "49 41 51 58 31 30 0A 0A 0A 0A 0A 0A"
If someone wants to keep the information in the original EDID with regards to manufacturer date/year, copy the contents of 0x10 and 0x11
(And then you need a new checksum - so might as well be easier with Phoenix edid editor)
I left it unmodified at 40 Hz, since the IAQX10 talks about two rates: 42.266 Hz and 50 Hz, but no mention of why this is the case. I thought that the 50 Hz might have been a mistake, but i notice now that for example the V-active level corresponds to one of approx. 50 Hz.
I changged it to the factory settings using powerstrip, but with the resilt that it seems to flicker more now that it did before.
One question also which left me wondering: 0x1B to 0x20 tells about the colour gamut CIE primaries. Right now, these are 91 and 54 for Red (X,Y). Since this was taken from a HV150UX1-100, it should correspond to 0.569 and 0.332 respectively. I'm thinking wether it is possible to change the gamut of the LCD this way - but i am not sure how to know the CIE to hex value mapping and i'm not sure if gamut is a limitation of optical properties or not - anyone willing to try this out ($29 for Powerstrip is kinda expensive it it doesn't make any difference)

I don't have the color information of the stock IAQX10N edid, do you have it?
For your current problem, search through the registry for two folders containing the cashed edid. You should find them in the following locations:
HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Enum\DISPLAY
HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\DISPLAY
Delete the entries labeled LEN4040. You may need to give yourself permissions to do this. Right click on the appropriate folder, click premissions, then allow full control.

Found a backup on an old harddrive from a stock IAQX10N panel. Turns out they didn't bother with a mfg. date. Oh well

I could try out what happens by modifying any of the RGBW values, but have no clue what the hex really represent exactly in CIE coordinates - it's confusing why that there are conflicting information in the Boe hydis data sheet regarding the optical characteristics and the EDID content spreadsheet. Maybe it's just a waste of time - it probably won't change anything by modifying it in the EDID.

Ah, so it is possible to delete the entry totally. Just what i was looking for - thanks

EDIT: After a reboot the LEN4040 entry is "reborn" - wonder where this information comes from. Maybe it's some kind of "blacklisting" during boot. I'll just let it stay as it is now.

It's nice to see that the color data in the two EDIDs matches.
try updating your video drivers after doing a registry search for LEN4040 and deleting ALL of the cached edids.

And it worked properly. I recommend that people use this edid for the most correct information and highest refresh rate.

I am a little confused and would appreciate a little help flashing the EDID EPROM on my QXGA LCD. I have the licensed version of POWERSTRIP and I see in the menu where it says to load the EDID.
What I did was install the new QXGA LCD.
Put my T60P Thinkpad in the doc with an external monitor connected.
Booted my laptop - Thinkpad LCD is blank and windows came up on the external display.
I ran Phoenix and it finds the EDID from my previous UXGA display.
I ran POWERSTRIP and it only sees my external display.
How do I know when I flash the EDID from POWERSTRIP that it will flash my QXGA and not my 30 inch LCD?
Can some one tell me what I am doing wrong?

When you click "update edid", powerstrip will scan the bus for eeproms. Each time it finds a chip that may be updated, it will give the display name in the title of the dialog box prompting what to do. Don't flash your 30, so hit cancel and another window will pop up. When you see the box for the thinkpad lcd, hit ok and give it the edid file to flash. Note that it may detect the QXGA panel's stock edid to be corrupt or invalid.

Just to be sure, has anyone tested this on a V5200? I see no reason why it wouldn't work if it's working on cirthix's V5250, but I thought I'd ask.
My panel's still en route to spacejunk for reflashing (I sent it literally a day or two before cirthix's thread on using PowerStrip,) so I figured that if
this EDID from this thread worked, that one would be the best for him to flash on there.

It is a 2623-DDU model with what I believe is a FireGL 5250 graphics chip.

The 2623-DDU came with a v5200 FireGL (i've got one myself as an import).
Anyway, the differences should neglible, don't even think that it has any major achitecture differences, and especially not regarding the DDC-CI, which is just a fancy I2C bus (i.e. has not been modified for years)
try updating your video drivers after doing a registry search for LEN4040 and deleting ALL of the cached edids.
All found entries for LEN4040 (1) deleted, removed video drivers, used driver cleaner, and confirmed that no traces were left from it - LEN4040 is recreated. Tried a whole different driver version, but unfortunately it still happens. I'm giving up - this must somehow have something to do with the BIOS. Thanks for the suggestions though

Confirmed that 50 Hz EDID works on a V5200.
(And the 40 Hz EDID is flicker city. Surprising on an LCD that it flickers.)

PowerStrip 3.83 does not find EDID EEPROM on internal LCD of my Z60t and R60e, only on external display if attached.

I finally installed a QXGA panel into my own T61p Frankenpad and programmed it using Powerstrip. During my installation attempts, I encountered the same problem as 3266fast i.e. Powerstrip would complain that it could not find an EDID EEPROM.
I believe that this is not a Powerstirp version issue but rather incompatibility between the installed display adapters, the graphics chipset and Powerstrip itself. Powerstrip would not detect the EDID when the QXGA panel was connected to my T61p motherboard (featuring an Nvidia FX570-M). I had to install the panel temporarily into a T60p with an ATI FireGL v5200 in order to have Powerstrip (same version) detect the EDID and then do the programming.
Interestingly enough, when I was starting up the T60p with the QXGA panel installed (but with the original IDTECH EDID) I got a vertical gray/white stripe pattern on the screen. I pressed FN-F7 repeatedly (I had the T60p connected to an external monitor) but instead of switching output to the external screen, the QXGA panel suddenly started to function despite that it had the original EDID. Once Windows booted, the display went dark but after doing FN-F7 again, the screen started to function again. I then proceeded to flash the EDID and after rebooting everything was working perfectly.
