The horrors of Sunday morning

#1 Post by thinktank » Sun Jun 14, 2009 9:27 am

It has been happening now every Sunday morning over the last few weeks: I turn on my Thinkpad T60 and Windows hangs at startup with various error messages relating to some DLLs and something with the Access Management of the wireless blahblah. My desktop items are gone at that point will remain gone unless I use system restore to go back to the previous Saturday (or so).

Before getting into the actual error messages could someone explain why this happens on Sunday mornings? I suspect that it is one of those Microsoft "updates" that keeps coming back somehow even though I have set the automatic updating function to manual and specifically last night forcing a shut down without installing the "updates". I am going to turn of Microsoft "updates" altogether now.

Any ideas of what this is all about?

Thanks and a nice Sunday to all of you.

T.

I'm more likely to suspect Lenovo than Microsoft. I would like to know what DLLs. Also, check the TVT scheduler. Make sure you have the latest one. Is it possible your hub is set to male leases expire every week?
