no SPD on T60p

None of the memory analyzers I've tried can read the SPD information from the RAM in my T60p.
Does anybody know if the SPD info is blocked, or if the factory RAM does not provide SPD data?

The SPD data is blocked. I think the whole ThinkPad T / X / R series all have the same restriction.

Okay wow. I assume there is a really good reason to block SPD info (we don't want users to see it is not a good reason) but I can't imagine what it would be.

What would be the harm to reveal this info. to users?

Before I write this off my to-do list, can someone with good aftermarket memory confirm that the SPD data is not available. Later versions of CPU-Z have an SPD tab that will display whatever is available.
