Intel quietly released a new processor -- T7600G with only a little information. All I know is that it has the same spec as the old C2D T7600, but interestingly it is overclockable.

Does anyone know more about it? for example, is it compatible with T60/p? how fast can it be in a T60/p?

Quietly released? The news on this thing are from the end of 2006... Apparently DELL had this overclockable chip in some of their laptops. Don't know about availability and compatibility though.

Forgive my bad reading of 6&9. It was indeed released in 2006, not 2009. But I really read about this processor recently.

IIRC, this processor was the higest option you could get on the Dell XPS M1710. You are correct in the fact that this one is unlocked, and the 1710 supported BIOS-level overclocking to 2.8Ghz, if my facts are straight. It is very similar to the X9000 in my M1730.

You might be able to play around with software-level overclocking with the T7600G in a T60 if the BIOS recognizes the processor, although I would think that the resulting heat issues will overpower the T60's cooling solution... the M1710 was a 17" DTR with some pretty beefed-up cooling.
