Rescue and Recovery backups.
Rescue and Recovery backups.
I have been using R&R for a while and after using a program called ccleaner (it cleans the registry/internet etc) the R&R doesn't properly function anymore. I tried to delete 2 of the backups created but there was just a stall.
So I rebooted the computer, erased the R&R program and downloaded it again.
The program works fine again and I was able to create and delete new backups.
However, my previous backups are not showing up after I reloaded the program. (which I don't mind unless the backup is still there but I can't see it.)
My question is:
1. When I erased R&R program, did I also erase the previous backups along with it?
2. If not, how do I erase the previous backups even though I can't see the previous backups with the newly downloaded R&R?
Just want to apologize if this topic was discussed before... Just couldn't find it....
Thanks

AFAIK, no.tockki wrote:1. When I erased R&R program, did I also erase the previous backups along with it?
Just nuke (read: erase) the RRBackup folders. IIRC, R&R use some registry entries to keep track of the backups, that's why a newly installed R&R cannot see the old backups when those registry entries are not present.2. If not, how do I erase the previous backups even though I can't see the previous backups with the newly downloaded R&R?
Cheers.
Re: Rescue and Recovery backups.
Trying to find the location of the RRbackup folder can't seem to find it.
I tried searching even through hidden files but to no avail.
Can you tell me the location of the folder so I can "nuke" em?
Thanks.

After some downloading and readings.. found that it is abit too advanced for me...
Is there anyone that can "baby" step to my solution? Thanks...

3rd edit...
Finally did it.
I booted up the computer into safe mode and went into the the folders to allow me to see the hidden files and system info.
From there I went into the c:rrbackups folder and erased it.
Thanks for the help.

Re: Rescue and Recovery backups.
Thanks for posting your solution--it may help me liberate some backups "lost" after a R&R upgrade decided that they weren't from this computer any more.
FWIW, every registry cleaner on the market has been known to screw up something in the registry sooner or later. CCleaner has about as good a rep as any of them--but some of us won't let any of them run on "automatic", because they always wind up nuking something that should have been left alone.
