volume buttons only work when 'sound app' on top

#1 Post by Paul Unger » Thu Jul 02, 2009 10:45 pm

I have a recent problem with my T61 (WinXP SP3). The volume buttons only work when a sound application--Media Player, Master Volume, WinDVD, etc.--are 'on top'. Kind of frustrating when word processing and I want to turn the volume down . . . Any ideas? Thanks.

I've had similar problems in Vista, where the audio system is totally different. If you're using the latest driver updates for your audio system, there's probably nothing else to do. (In Vista, the audio for each app is supposed to be controlled separately, in XP it all is run together.)

Well, there's some comfort in knowing it's not just me . . . , but disappointing that there's no solution. Somethings not right in Lenovo land! :(
