I'm looking to upgrade the processor but I'm not sure what is the best one witch could fit with my hardware.

I don't know if a BIOS upgrade is required, but it probably won't hurt. You may upgrade to any Merom Core 2 Duo, which would include up to the T7600. The T7200 is probably the sweet spot performanc to cost wise. They can be had on eBay for less than $100. I might add an upgrade to a faster 7200RPM hard drive, if you haven't done so already, will give a healthy uptick in performance as well.,

I think the T7200 offers better value, but the choice is yours of course. Since the T7600 is the fastest Merom Core 2 Duo it commands a bit of a premium for a small increase in performance.

Installing a Core 2 Duo processor in a T60/p requires BIOS version 2.05 or newer and a motherboard revision 3 or later. Your system seems to meet these requirements. With a Core 2 Duo (as opposed to Core Duo) you will get a capability to run a 64-bit operating system but note that the RAM limit remains at max. 3GB. Also note that the fast CPUs eat more power and generate more heat which might be important especially if you need to run your laptop on a battery.

neat, I was wondering the same thing and 30 seconds with CPUZ and this thread answered my questions. Im in no rush, as the T60 I just got is quite a leap compared to my old T42, but when I have some money to spare and I get bored its good to know this is a fairly easy upgrade.

I upgraded my T60p to a solid state HDD, and it speeded things up *dramatically*.
