T60 + 8775 problem

#1 Post by p.barycki » Thu Jul 30, 2009 12:16 pm

Hello to all!
I've recently bought brand new Sierra Wireless 8775 WWAN card for my T60 (1951) and installed it. The BIOS version is OK (no problem with unsupported device), but there is a problem later. 8775 won't show as a new device on XP, but if i run 3G wather setup and install it, in Device Manager it shows properly, but 3GWatch shows "No device connected". I've tried to install all drivers and software, reinstalling and adding, even remove and reconnect it - no difference after all.
When I'm booting up my computer, the WWAN light on my T60 flashes green for some time, but before Win starts, it's shuts down, and won't light any more.

What should I do?

What you describe is precisely what happens when the BIOS rejects the MC8775 card because the card is not Lenovo-branded. The BIOS does not give an error message -- it simply turns off the card and Windows cannot "see" it.

If you tape Pin-20 of the card, then the card will not be shut off by the BIOS. Then you will receive the "Invalid Card" BIOS error message, and you will need a modified BIOS to use the card.

Oh, thanks! I thought that it should show me this kind of message and not allow to boot computer.
So i have to wait for Zender reply for my PM.

Thanks a lot!

PS: Maybe somebody could send it to me if he had it already?:)
