Fresh XP install but on bigger drive - what I need?

#1 Post by woomaa » Fri Jul 31, 2009 1:59 pm

For my t60p I have recovery two DVD's but in ThinkVantage i don't have option for install fresh copy, "factory state" could be the right way but I replaced my 100GB HD with new 200GB so it isnb't possible I think?

Should I download from web OEM CD with XP and instal with serial from OEM sticker?

Yeah, I would just do a OEM install of the OS on your machine. You can get all the drivers you need from lenovo's website EXCEPT I would get the Intel Matrix Storage Manager from Intel's website.

If you get Acronis TrueImage or similar, you can clone your old hard disk onto your new one.
No need then to reinstall.

What's wrong with Lenovo's version of the Matrix Storage Manager?

"Factory state" is what you want. It will put a recovery partition on the drive and then install the OS, etc. Done it many times.

I don't think you can download OEM Windows XP CDs from the web.
